Joe Ward is the first Irish male boxer to win three World Championship medals.

The Moate southpaw will have the chance to reach his second World Final on Friday when he faces Asian champion Bektimer Melikuziev in the semi-finals.

The 23-year-old is already assured of at least light-heavyweight bronze after getting the unanimous decision from all the judges in winning his quarter-final.
