NFL To Broadcast Thursday Night Games On Twitter

The NFL and twitter have agreed a broadcast deal that will see Thursday night NFL games being streamed for free across the world on the social media platform.
After Facebook dropped out of the bidding last week, twitter beat competition from the likes of Verizon, Yahoo and Amazon to win the rights for the service, which the NFL is hoping will help to grow the sport’s international appeal.
The deal will also include pre-game Periscoping by players and teams from within the locker-rooms.
“Twitter is where live events unfold and is the right partner for the NFL,” said NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.
“There is a massive amount of NFL-related conversation happening on Twitter during our games,” said Goodell.
“People watch NFL games with Twitter today,” said Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey. “Now they’ll be able to watch right on Twitter Thursday nights.”
