There was no luck for local teams in the Bord Gais Energy Leinster U-21 Hurling Championship last night.
Offaly never got going against a superior Galway side and were beaten by 1-20 to 0-8.
Galway led by 0-11 to 0-4 at half-time and Offaly were further hampered when Oisin Kelly was sent off with 15 minutes to go.
Sean Loftus scored the only goal of the game for Galway with 5 minutes to go.
In Mullingar Westmeath provided stern resistance for Dublin before going down by 2-13 to 1-13.
Killian Doyle scored an early goal for the Lake County but Donal Burke’s goal for Dublin cancelled out that effort but still at half-time Westmeath led by 1-9 to 1-5.
Burke got a second goal for the Dubs early in the second hlaf but they only took the lead with 7 minutes to go.
Killian Doyle was the Westmeath star scoring 1-7 from frees and play.
