There’s just no stopping Dermot Weld and Pat Smullen right now as the Epsom Derby-winning team took the feature coral.ie Glencairn Stakes at Leopardstown last night with Foxtrot Charlie.
Rhode’s Smullen took a daring route up the inside on the 11-4 second favourite in the closing stages and it proved a successful move as Foxtrot Charlie stayed on strongly to beat last year’s winner Tennessee Wildcat by a length.
Weld and Smullen were also successful earlier on the card with Currency Converter who won the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden at odds of 20-1.

Joseph O’Brien was at the Goffs sales on Bank Holiday Monday and missed out on watching his four winners on what was his first day as a licensed trainer, but the 23-year-old was on hand at Leopardstown on Thursday evening to see his sister Ana make all the running on the 6-4 favourite No Biggie in the final race on the card the Copper Face Jacks Handicap.
Tasty Ginger chased home the winner in second with Queen Alpha back in third place.
