Westmeath Hurling Boss Backs All-Ireland Hurling Changes
Written 3 weeks ago by Will O'Callaghan
Westmeath senior hurling manager Michael Ryan was welcomed the changes to the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship that were adopted at Saturday’s Special Congress.
For the next three seasons the Leinster and Munster Championships will be played on a round-robin basis with a second-tier competition to be created – in which both Laois and Westmeath will compete.
The top two teams from that six-team second tier will still be able to compete for the Liam McCarthy Cup.
But Ryan is concerned about the impact on the club calendar
