From Mullingar To Asia

Adam Gaine, a native of Mullingar, is spoke to Will Faulkner on Midlands Today near Bordeaux, France in his transcontinental motorcycle ride for Motor Neurone Disease Association and Pieta House.

So far Adam has been to Rome, Sardinia, Athens, Turkey, Romania and even as far as Serbia which he cites as one of his favourite countries now. A few hiccups have halted Adam on his journey like the moment he had to replace his engine in Germany which was a costly €2000.

Despite the potholes along the way there are moments he’ll never forget such as seeing opera in an amphitheatre in Athens, Greece.

The inspiration for this particular trip came from Adam flying to America three years ago, buying the very motorcycle he is currently riding and travelling across America. After that he imported the motorcylce into Ireland and felt after 3 years of hard work that another trip was on the cards.

‘I’ve had a few people in my life that have lost their lives to motor neuron disease – you never know what could happen you need to live your life and do it the way you want to do it’.

But it’s not completely for his own pleasure – Adam immediately felt that this was an opportunity to raise money for charities that are close to his heart. So far he has raised €5,500 for both charities.

Adam Gaine decided to document the entire experience on video in vlog format here.
