Westmeath Olympian Vows To Avoid Trouble

Mullingar Olympian John Joe Nevin has vowed to never appear before a judge in court ever again. He will instead focus on his career and, hopefully, one day become a world champion.

Speaking to Will Faulkner on Midlands Today, Irish Sun Crime Editor Stephen Breen gives details of Mr Nevin’s latest brush with the law and why an arrest warrant was issued for the boxer in Marh.

“John Joe, as far as he was concerned, he believed the case was over and he was away training in America.”

Stephen revealed that Mr Nevin was determined to clear his name after contesting charges arising from an alleged incident in Feerick’s Hotel, Mullingar. It is not the first time his career has been sidetracked after a previous unrelated dispute left him with two broken legs.

According to Breen, John Joe feels bad about his past drinking habits because of the following he had accumulated since becoming a silver medalist in 2012.

“He knows he made mistakes and a few problems in his personal life as well but when I spoke to him he definitely seems determined to put all this behind him.”

Will Faulkner spoke with Stephen Breen on Midlands Today about it in full length down below.
