Up to 63 jobs are believed to be under threat at Astora Women’s Health in Athlone.

It’s believed staff were called to a meeting this morning and told that the company is closing its operations at the Business and Technology Park at the end of this month.

The company, formerly known as American Medical Systems, has been running operations in Athlone for the past 6 years and specialises in women’s pelvic health.

Fifty-six permanent and seven temporary staff are employed at the plant situated on the Dublin Road.
