Offaly TD Barry Cowen says Fianna Fáil is still pushing for a five year suspension of water charges.

Talks between the party and Fine Gael ground to a halt last night over Irish Water.

Enda Kenny’s party says it is still awaiting for an answer to its latest proposal which would see water charges temporarily suspended while the possibility of setting up a commission to examine the future of the utility is also being considered.

Deputy Cowen, who is part of the Fianna Fáil negotiating team, says discussions will resume this morning.
