John Whelan Admits He’s Unlikely To Run For Public Office Again

Labour Senator and election candidate John Whelan doesn’t expect to contest another General Election in the future.

He fell short in the Laois constituency over the weekend, and has said previously that he won’t be challenging for another term in the Seanad.

The Labour party has lost all but six seats so far, but they need seven in order to retain speaking rights in the Dail.

Mr Whelan says he’ll stay politically engaged, but is unlikely to challenge for public office in the future.
