Second Level Principals At ‘Breaking Point’- Midlands ASTI Rep

Written 2 years ago by Newsroom

An ASTI representative for the Midlands region says second level principals and deputy principals are at ‘breaking point’ due to the workload being put on them.

Brian Burke says the collapse of the middle management system has put severe pressure on its members and greater investment is needed in second level education.

The government has issued two reports into further autonomy, which would give individual schools greater control over their budget and other measures.

However Mr Burke says autonomy is the last thing that school management in the region are currently calling for.
