Gardaí have reopened the N52 Mullingar to Tyrrellspass road after a pensioner was struck by a lorry.

The 80 year old man suffered serious injuries in the collision which happened at 6:30pm last evening near Dalystown.

He was brought to Tullamore Hospital for treatment.

Diversions have been lifted this afternoon following a forensic collision examination at the scene.
