Shane King

Shane King, 19-year-old student and traditional musician from Ballinagore, County Westmeath, is deeply immersed in traditional Irish music. Shane is both a concert flute player and traditional singer.

This marks Shane’s first role with Midlands 103 and his debut as a radio presenter, as he takes on the iconic traditional music programme Coppers and Brass.

Speaking about the role, Shane said:

“I am really looking forward to taking the reins of the iconic show Coppers and Brass. Pádraig Ó Dufaigh has been a legend in traditional Irish music circles in the Midlands and far beyond, and I am very aware of the big shoes I have to fill. He has been a huge inspiration to so many of us in Comhaltas and in the wider traditional music community."
