The incident happened just before 9am this morning.
Emergency Services have attended the scene of a car-fire in Westmeath this morning.
Athlone Fire Service, with the assistance of Westmeath Gardaí battled the blaze at the scene near the Southern Station Road in Athlone shortly before 9am.
Gardaí are confirming the woman, who is unharmed, pulled over after noticing smoke coming from her car.
She quickly exited the vehicle before it caught fire, with emergency services arriving shortly afterwards.
