The car, which was 500 days overdue on road tax, was seized after being stopped.

A car in Laois was stopped by Gardaí after officers noticed a child was not wearing a selt belt and carrying a baby.

Gardaí in Portlaoise say there was also another child unrestrained in the back seat, which they discovered while out on patrol yesterday.

The tax on the vehicle had expired almost 500 days ago, which led to the car being seized.

The driver of the vehicle was also issued with fixed charge notices.
