Offaly Councillor Bemoans Lack Of Joined Up Thinking Around Windfarms

Bord Na Móna has announced a new joint-venture with SSE Renewables.

Energy companies and the State need to get together to discuss windfarm development in Offaly.

Councillor Liam Quinn is making the push in the wake of Bord Na Móna's new joint-venture with SSE Renewables, which could see up to €1b invested in on-shore wind energy in the midlands.

The partnership will also see two windfarm projects in the region, Lemonaghan and Garryhinch, added to the portfolio.

The Fine Gael rep says there needs to be an assessment of the cumulative impact the number of windfarms in the county is having:
