Reduction In Number Of Deaths By Suicide In 2020

That's according to a new report from the CSO.

More than 40 people died by suicide in the midlands in 2020.

The CSO's latest report shows that figure is an increase of nine when compared to 2019.

The region accounts for the second-lowest share of national suicides, at 8.5% - however, the number of suicides in the midlands is above the national average of 1.5%.

504 people died to suicide in 2020, a substantial decrease from the figure of 538 the year prior.

The majority of those were in the 40-44 age range.
