HSE Funding Insufficient For Midlands Population Growth - Sinn Féin

Thousands of hospital appointments across the region were cancelled last year.

State investment in health isn't matching population growth, according to Sinn Féin.

It comes after the release of HSE data that indicates there were just under 10,000 hospital appointment cancellations in the midlands last year.

Laois Offaly TD Brian Stanley believes many of these cancellations are due to a lack of staffing in hospitals in Mullingar, Tullamore, and Portlaoise.

He says the list of positions that are under resourced is extensive:
