Westmeath is the only county below the national average of commercial vacancies in midlands, from the Geo Directory Commercial Buildings Report, at 12.7%.
Both Offaly and Laois were above average at 15.9% and 14.8% respectively.
Mullingar Chamber's spokesperson for Economic Development, Investment and Tourism, John Geoghegan says this creates an opportunity for the county:
