That's the charge from the Irish Residential Boat Owners Association in the face of Athlone's Waterways Ireland's proposed changes to the laws that govern those that use the Grand and Royal Canal, as well as the river Shannon and Barrow Navigation.
Possible changes include an annual registration process, in-water inspections and insurance for boats.
IRBOA says the measures are designed to only increase revenue and autocratic control for Waterways Ireland.
