On the programme this week MJ chats to Arrabawn CEO Conor Ryan about the co-ops most recent financial figures which for the first time in its history showed a turnover of 500 million euro. A huge success for a completely farmer owned venture. Conor gives his views on how Arrabawn will meet with consumer demand and how they will maintain their current milk pool of 500 million litres given the tightening nitrate rules. He also gives a prediction on what direction milk prices are going this year. Elaine Houlihan, President Elect of Macra chats about the main issues facing young farmers today. Darren Carty from the Irish Farmers Journal speaks about the newly launched Red Clover Silage and Multi Species Sward schemes which sees up to 300 euro per hectare available for farmers should they participate. Paul Dillon from calfpens.ie speaks about slurry bags which have just been included under TAMS funding. Paul compares and contrasts slurry bags and permastores and gives the pros and cons for each.
