On the programme this week MJ chats to Lakelands CEO Colin Kelly. Colin who is a Co. Offaly native took the position in January of this year. He speaks about the latest financial results for the Co - Op which shows a turnover of 1.9 billion euro, the largest in its history. Colin speaks about the outlook for the global dairy market this year and how he feels it's a year to consolidate as opposed to spend.
Paul O' Brien from the IFA speaks about the environmental challenges facing farmers and how 420,000 hectares of land is to be rewetted by 2050. Paul asks the question as to how profitable agriculture can run alongside this EU legislation?
Michael Flanagan from Co. Westmeath speaks about the upcoming Hall of Fame Awards recognising people who have made a significant contribution of agri rural life over their careers.
Pat O' Toole from the Irish Farmers Journal joins MJ to speak about the remarkable shift in the Netherlands which has seen huge support for the BBB party, the farmer citizen movement which is protesting against the government's environmental policies. The question as to whether the same could happen in Ireland is something that is coming to the fore.
