Episode 29
Country Life with MJ Clery
Thursday, 20 July 2023 - 32 minutes
On this weeks programme MJ looks at the change in the recent Nature Restoration Law which has seen bog rewetting removed. Westmeath man Noel Bardon from the Irish Farmers Journal speaks about the connotations this will have for Irish farmers. The question as to whether we will see rewetting come in a different form is something that Noel examines.
Ag colleges around Ireland have recently invested in cow simulators where each student will now be able to calve down a cow using a scale model of the animal. The idea is to increase awareness around animal safety and with over 2250 non fatal animal related accidents on farms last year, it's a hugely positive step. Jon Parry principal of Gurteen Agricultural College speaks about this excellent new initiative.
Brendan Henegan coaches entrepreneurs and established small busineeses. He speaks to MJ about working with agri company JFC and how their first product was essentially some buckets welded together to make calf feeding easier and how it has grown to a muti million euro company.
Peter Ging from Co. Laois speaks about the upcoming Ossory show.
