On the show this week the National Fertiliser Database is the on the agenda. With the deadline looming farmers will have to register online or else they will not be in a position to buy fertiliser from the start of September. Jim Moyles local advisor from Co. Offaly gives all the information in relation to this new requirement. The topic of winter milk is covered when James Dunne from Teagasc speaks in advance of a winter milk open day taking place in Johnstown Castle. The question as to whether this cohort of farmers are actually being paid properly for working all year round is examined. Ballyboy is a small village in Co. Offaly and its residents are holding a community event in a little over a month. They are encouraging small businesses from all over the midlands to get in touch to showcase their products and services at the event. Niall Grennan from John Grennan and Sons speaks about the benefits for small businesses to attend an event such as this. The National Genomics Scheme has been rolled out for dairy farmers and now its the turn of beef famers. Will this initiative help to increase the genetic merit of our national herd?
