Autism Diagnosis At 44 Was Life Changing

An Offaly woman says getting an Autism diagnosis at the age of 44 was life changing. 

Michelle Kenny from Clara developed selective mutism a year before she started school.

She says she could never communicate effectively in social settings and depended on her sister. 

Selective mutism is classified as an anxiety disorder by the World Health Organisation. 

Ms. Kenny received an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and ADHD within the span of two years as an adult which changed her life. 

She has been speaking with Will Faulkner on Midlands Today and says her diagnosis led to her going to college and receiving supports:
