Kenyan Nun Praises Midlands Priest For Her Education

A Kenyan nun is crediting a midlands priest for the work she is doing to educate people in her country.

Westmeath's Fr. John Jones was working as a missionary priest when Sr. Rose Wanjiru was she was a child and he saw that she was a bright girl so he arranged for funding so she could go to secondary school 60 miles from her home.

She then trained as a nurse and midwife and is now the chief of a local hospital.

The Little Sisters of St Francis nun also got funding to buy 15 acres so she could train women on the best farming practices.

She has been speaking with Midlands 103's Sinead Hubble about how she would have to get up at 3am to walk miles to get water before she went to school:
