A Laois father is cycling 1,000kms to raise money to thank the healthcare workers who "saved" his twins lives.

Padraic Kavanagh says its to say thanks for the care his his twins Ellie and Páidí received after they were born at just 27 weeks old.

Páidí has supraventricular tachycardia, which causes his heart to beat at a fast irregular pace, while Ellie has survived sepsis and emergency laser eye and bowel surgery.

All funds raised go towards Children's Health Foundation and Friends of the Coombe, with his donation goal set at €10,000/

Mr. Kavanagh, has been speaking with Will Faulkner on Midlands Today and says this is his way of giving back.
