1 In 4 Families Cut Down On Food And Heating Due To Financial Struggles

This is one of the findings from a study by Family Carers Ireland.

Almost one in four family carers have had to cut back on essentials such as food and heating due to financial struggles.

That's one of the findings of a major study by Family Carers Ireland, which says its members need to receive fair compensation for the care they provide.

68% say they're experiencing financial distress while 9% are relying on charities to feed their families.

The group's calling on the government to undertake an urgent review of the Carer's Allowance and increase it to €325 a week.
