Recycling and waste management company Bord na Móna Recycling has chosen children's charity Barretstown as its official charity partner for the upcoming year.
To launch the partnership, Bord na Móna Recycling presented a cheque of €50,000 to Barretstown and will donate a percentage of online bill payments made by its customers throughout the year to support Barretstown and various other charity initiatives.
Furthermore, the team at Bord na Móna Recycling will engage in a range of volunteering and fundraising activities throughout 2024 to further support Barretstown. Barretstown is driven by the support of donations and fundraising efforts of corporate supporters, individuals, and community groups, in order to deliver its therapeutic recreation camps and programmes for children and their families dealing with serious illnesses.
Behind the scenes, the charity provides exceptional medical support to ensure the highest standard of care, as they create transformative experiences that help to heal both the child and their family, establishing Barretstown as a distinguished centre of excellence in childhood care. Since its inception in 1994, Barretstown has touched the lives of over 100,000 campers, delivering transformative therapeutic programmes that assist in rebuilding the lives of children and their families.
Commenting on the partnership, Helena O'Connell, Commercial Strategy Manager at Bord na Móna Recycling said, "I am delighted to announce that Barretstown has become our official charity partner for the year ahead. While Barretstown is a neighbour to Bord na Móna Recycling here in Kildare, the impact of its services and initiatives extend to communities right across the country. The work they do to help countless children and families every year is incredible, and we hope that our partnership will provide them with additional support next year to continue doing what they do so well. The team here at Bord na Móna Recycling looks forward to working closely with the Barretstown team and supporting upcoming fundraising and volunteering projects in the coming months."
Dee Ahearn, Barretstown CEO commented "We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Bord Na Móna for selecting Barretstown as their Charity partner. Barretstown relies on the generosity of volunteers, donors and corporate partners like Bord Na Mona to support our campers and their families. We are greatly looking forward to working closely with the Bord na Móna team to continue to ensure that every child and family in Ireland, grappling with the difficult reality of childhood cancer and other serious illnesses, can experience the magic of healing and resilience through our therapeutic camps and programmes in 2024."
