The money from the prize is going to support children displaced by the war in Ukraine.

A Russian journalist has sold his Nobel peace prize medal for €96.6 million, with the money going to support children displaced by the war in Ukraine.

Dmitry Muratov raffled off his 23-karat gold prize yesterday, on World Refugee Day, with all money raised going to UNICEF.

The journalist was awarded the gold medal in October 2021 for his work in preserving free speech in Russia, despite harassment, government interventions and even death threats.
