8,000 Native Trees Being Planted In Offaly To Support Asylum Seekers' Education

You can sponsor a tree to support young asylum seekers going to college.

8,000 native trees will be planted in Offaly to represent the number of people living in direct provision in the country. 

Putting Down Roots is hoping to raise €40,000 through the project to support young asylum seekers going to college.

The environmental arts initiative is aiming to help teenagers put down roots on the island of Ireland. 

Charlotte Byrne, Education Officer for the Irish Refugee Council says anybody can pledge €5 to sponsor a tree to help young people access education:
