All 1,100 staff at Mullingar Regional Hospital will be vaccinated against covid-19 over the next four days.

The programme is being rolled out at there this morning, with Clinical Director Dr. Murat Kirca the first to receive the Pfizer-BioNTech jab.

A vaccination team will continue administering until at least 10 o'clock tonight and continue into the weekend.

Dr. Kirca says it's a huge boost in morale for all the staff who have been working tirelessly for months:
