A midlands TD is making the call.
There are calls for an air policing unit to be established in Ireland.
Kildare South TD Cathal Berry is behind the push, and says it's appropriate a neighbouring country cover our airspace until we can set up our own service.
Earlier this week, it was revealed an Anglo-Irish agreement has been in place for decades, and permits the UK to police Irish airspace and could use lethal force if needed.
