Coronavirus: 4,667 New Cases Confirmed

109 are in ICU - down 2 on yesterday. 

The Department of Health has reported 4,667 new cases of Covid-19 today. 

504 patients are hospitalised - up 23 on yesterday.

The Department has also confirmed that four additional cases of the Omicron variant have been detected, bringing to 10 the total number of cases that have been identified.

Many Covid-19 vaccination walk-in clinics are open again today at venues around the country.

Yesterday, hundreds of people had to be turned away from the venue after capacity was reached by early afternoon.

There are three centres opened in the midlands today:

Mucklagh Community Centre  -  between 10.15am and 3pm

Moate Youth and Community Sports Centre - 1pm to 5pm

St. Fintan's Campus, Laois - 8.30am to 6pm

The demand for booster shots comes after a study shows they provide up to 75% protection against the Omicron variant.

4,004 new cases of the virus were confirmed yesterday.
