The Irish Independent is reporting that Longford-Westmeath TD Peter Burke wants a €100 million package for his department, but is signalling there's limited space to spending increases.
Tánaiste and Finance Minister Simon Harris says most of the €1.5 billion allocated for new measures will be used to increase the 40% income tax threshold level.
Mr Burke says he is considering several measures that would help businesses without costing the State money.
He also wants to remove what he described as a "draconian" rule requiring company bosses to report any gifts given to employees to the Revenue Commissioner in real time.
