The Bar Council is speaking out against the Family Courts Bill.
Barristers are raising concerns with plans to have all divorce, judicial separation and co-habitation cases with less than one million euro land value to be heard at District Court level.
The Bar Council says it fears the Family Courts Bill (2022) will lead to the less-well-off being afforded less time and consideration in their cases.
The change aims to result in reduced legal costs, but the Council doesn't believe that will be the case.
