Fine Gael Looks Set To Lose A Seat In Laois Offaly

Meanwhile Sinn Fein is on course to top the poll in the constituency.

Fine Gael looks set to lose a sitting TD in Laois / Offaly.

With all boxes in the Faithful County now tallied Fine Gael’s Marcella Corcoran Kennedy looks like being in significant danger.

The out-going TD has just 7% of votes and is unlikely to pick up votes from Laois, or from Brian Stanley’s surplus. It’s likely she’s paying the price for being a government TD presiding over Bord na Mona job losses.

Meanwhile Sinn Fein is on course to top the poll in the constituency.

Brian Stanley has been polling well in both counties according to Fianna Fail tallies with 22%

In Laois, a few remaining boxes from the Portlaoise electoral area and quite a few from Graiguecullen-Portarlington area remain to be tallied.

Sitting TDs Sean Fleming of Fianna Fáil and Charlie Flanagan of Fine Gael have just under 10pc of the tally each.

Carol Nolan, sitting independent TD has 8.7pc of votes.

Fianna Fail’s director of elections in Laois John is hoping his party can take three seats:

However, it’s clear that the make up of the Laois Offaly constituency will be decided, in the first instance, by Brian Stanley’s Sinn Fein transfers.
