Two schools in Laois and Westmeath are joining alongside an Offaly school.
Five midlands schools are set to join the Safe Routes to School Programme.
Round five will bring a further 83 schools into the Programme, which aims to help create safer and more attractive environments for children and families to walk, wheel and cycle to school, with 609 school participating nationally.
Laois will have two schools taking part, which are Knock NS and Scoil an Chroí Ró-Naofa / The Swan NS.
The two Westmeath schools are An Grianán NS, Moate and Gaelscoil an Choillín, with Geashill NS the only representative in Offaly.
Minister for Transport, Darragh O'Brien says safe school routes are "delivering real benefits for communities".
