A former Irish Rugby captain is finding deeper meaning in his charity work than reflecting on his past successes on the pitch.

Rory Best is walking through the midlands today to raise funds for the construction of 'Daisy Lodge', a cancer retreat for children in Cong.

The two time grand slam winner is walking 300km from the Aviva Stadium, through Portlaoise, to his ultimate destination of Cong, in Mayo.

Currently walking through the Curragh, he says he far prefers to see highlights of his post-rugby career:
