Government Considering Divorce Bill Today

Justice Minister and Laois Fine Gael TD Charlie Flanagan will also bring forward legislation.

The government will consider a bill to reduce the waiting time for a divorce this morning.

It would reduce the separation time needed for couples seeking a divorce from four to two years.

It comes after people voted to remove the reference to waiting times from the constitution in May.

Justice Minister and Laois Fine Gael TD Charlie Flanagan will also bring forward legislation that would allow divorces and separations granted in the UK to be recognised here if there's a no-deal Brexit.
