IFA Concerned Over Rushed Safeguard Approval For Mercosur

Safeguards are set to be approved through the EU Council instead of a European Parliament debate.

The Irish Farmers Association is expressing concerns over a rushed approval for safeguards in the Mercosur trade deal.

They're set to be approved by the EU Council as opposed to a full debate with MEP's in the European Parliament.

Measures proposed by the European Commission include enhanced monitoring of beef and poultry market trends, and clear triggers for price investigations with a rapid response.
