Athlone Drug Awareness Group is holding a public meeting this week to let the local community voice their issues to their local TDs and Senators.
Chairman Frankie Keena is encouraging people to attend the event, which takes place in the Shamrock Lodge at 7.30pm tomorrow evening but people will have an option of raising their issues anonymously.
He appealing to people to show up and air their concerns with their Oireachtas members.
The Fianna Fail councillor says a lot of crime is linked to drug dealing and the dealers are ruthless and don't care about the people they are selling to as they just want their money.
He says he's not trying to stigmatise the town but they want to find solutions:
