The new owners of a Laois pub says it's important to keep rural communities connected as it celebrates its first few weeks after reopening.
'The Village Tap' in Rosenallis is the only pub in the village and shut its doors during the Covid pandemic, with construction worker Wayne Walsh and plumber Mark Doyle buying the property this year.
It's now been completely refurbished with help from the local Tidy Towns group, and reopened its doors on December 5th under the ownership of Wayne and his wife Ruth.
Ms Walsh says it's especially important to have a place for younger people to socialise:
