Laois TD Sean Fleming is suggesting the ESB may need to do so to meet targets.
The ESB may need to recruit from abroad to make sure it reaches its target on domestic connections to the power grid.
A new report from the Oireachtas Committee on Infrastructure found the group will need to double its efforts to live up to its commitments.
The updated National Development Plan contains promises to connect 300,000 homes to the grid by 2030 but only 151,000 were connected over the last 4 years.
