Two men who have played football for Mayo, faced with accusations of assault causing serious harm are facing trial date delays after their case was adjourned over the legal aid dispute.
Davitt Neary, who played for the Connacht side in 2025, and his brother Rhy who represented Mayo at minor level, are charged along with Paul Dowding of Frenchill in Castlebar.
The two brothers both share an addresss at Shanvalley, Breaffy Woods, in Castlebar.
They're accused of assault causing serious harm to Padraig Weston on Tucker Street in Castlebar in August last year.
They're also facing a violent disorder charge from the same incident along with Oran Groarke, of Ballynew, Turlough Road, Castlebar and Eben Mulqueeney of 47 Willow Grove, Mountmellick, in Laois.
No pleas have been entered as of yet, and the case is adjourned until November 2nd following solicitors protest walk out against the Criminal Legal Aid Scheme yesterday.
