Local Rep Suggests Building New National Outdoor Events Centre In Midlands

He feels the region could make a name for itself as the outdoor show capital of Ireland.

Creating a national outdoor events centre in the midlands is being suggested as one way to kickstart the local economy.

Offaly councillor John Clendennen feels it could be real opportunity to make the region the agricultural show 'capital' of Ireland.

He's previously submitted the proposal to Offaly County Council, and is hoping to drive momentum behind the idea in the months ahead.

The Fine Gael rep says the success of the Tullamore Show and National Ploughing Championships, among others, highlights just how much potential there is:
