An extensive search operation for a missing man on a Midlands lake has been stood down after the discovery of a body.
Gardaí have found the body of a man in his 20s at Lough Ennell in Westmeath.
The man's remains have been brought to the Regional Hospital in Mullingar and a post-mortem examination will take place at the Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore.
The local coroner has been notified and a family liaison officer is being appointed to support the family of the deceased.
Gardaí are thanking the public and all local organistaions for their help.
