A massive housing development in Westmeath has been given the green light.
The local authority has granted planning permission for 177 new homes on a seven hectare site in Cornamaddy, Athlone.
The development will consist of a mix of two, three or four-storey houses, as well as over 30 apartments and duplexes.
The project forms part of a larger phase of both permitted and proposed developments.
Marina Quarter Limited was granted planning permission for the development subject to 24 conditions from Westmeath County Council.
