The Laois and Offaly Garda Youth Awards will recognise the good work and positive contribution young people are making in their community.
Nominations are being sought to celebrate outstanding young people in Laois and Offaly at the Garda Youth Awards.
People between 13 and 21 will be recognised for the good work and positive contribution they make in their community at an event on Thursday, 21st of March, in the Killeshin Hotel, Portlaoise.
Four categories will be presented at the Awards, including Individual, Group, Special Achievement and Community Safety.
Gardaí in Laois and Offaly are encouraging members of the public to put their nominations forward before the closing date of Thursday, February 29th.
The breakdown of each award can be found below:
Individual award: Making a positive contribution to their community, making it a better place to live.
Group award: Groups of two or more, making a positive contribution to their community and making it a better place to live.
Special achievement award: Has overcome difficult circumstances, defied all the odds, and whose commitment deserves recognition.
Community safety award: Through a crime prevention or safety initiative or innovation, has made their community a safer place to live.
Anyone who wishes to nominate someone can do so by filling out the form found here and emailing it to laoisoffalygardayouthawards@garda.ie or by dropping it into your local Community Policing Garda at Portlaoise, Tullamore or Birr Garda Stations.
