Midlands MEP Eases Fears Regarding 2023 CAP Negotiation

There's concern that up to 10,000 part-time farmers could lose EU payments.

Up to 10,000 'armchair' farmers may lose payments from the European Union in two years' time. 

Member states are in negotiations for the 2023 Common Agricultural Policy. 

The Irish Farmers Journal says the EU wants to introduce a definition of a 'genuine' farmer - meaning people who lease out their land could lose their payments.

But Midlands-Northwest MEP Luke 'Ming' Flanagan says he doesn't think the measure will be brought in:
